Today I want to look at what we were able to accomplish in 2015 and also share some really exciting new features planned for this year!
2015 was a BIG year for us.
Contena was born in May of 2015, and we *officially* launched in mid June.
Before Contena launched, many freelance writers and editors were spending 80% of their time searching for work, and only 20% of their time actually writing.
As a freelancer, you don’t get paid to search for work. You get paid to write, edit and create content!
So we created Contena to help freelancers discover the best paid gigs, while dramatically reducing the amount of time spent searching for work.
The incredible feedback that we’ve received over the last 7 months helps to validate that we are on the right track.
Less than a day after launching Contena, we began receiving emails from members who were already landing amazing new jobs and clients using our service.
Over the last 7 months, we’ve continued to add new features and scale up the number of sources and jobs found by Contena.
Here are just a few of the *many* additions made throughout the second half of 2015:
- Contena Alerts – We added custom real-time email alerts for new jobs found by Contena.
- Contena Rates – We created a huge database of company rates that is updated in real time.
- Job Quality Scores – We built an algorithm that estimates the quality of each job.
- Open Submissions – We are now adding companies that are paying for content submissions.
- Sorting Options 2.0 – We added many more sorting options.
We’ve also been focusing on optimizing our editorial process.
Every single job that comes into Contena is manually vetted by our editorial team before it’s published.
Many jobs out there actually do not make the cut.
This work we do behind the scenes is what helps to ensure that our members have a high success rate.
Having a process like this ensures that our members are only applying for the highest quality jobs – which can dramatically improve the success rate.
By late 2015, we were adding more jobs on most weekdays, then we were adding during an entire week at launch. This was a huge accomplishment for us.
I am super proud of what we were able to accomplish in 2015 and am even more proud of what we have in the pipeline for this year.
In 2015, we were able to lay the foundation for many of the really incredible new features we are working on this year. Here’s a little preview of what we’re currently working on:
- Even More Jobs and More Categories
We are continuing to expand our editorial team and the number of sources / jobs found by Contena. We will also be accelerating our integration with popular third party sites and services.
- Ability to Follow Companies
We will soon be adding the ability for our members to “Follow” companies. By following a company, you will automatically receive an alert when Contena finds a new job posted by that company.
- Contena Alerts 2.0
We are working on major additions and improvements to Contena Alerts. Receive alerts with even more context in real-time or in a daily digest format. You will also be able to view your alerts and notifications directly on Contena.
- Contena Academy
Learn how to land the best clients and make more from your writing with our library of exclusive tutorials and courses, included for our members.
Again, these are just a few of many exciting new features we are working on. We also continue to listen to your feedback and add new features / optimizations / improvements each and every week!
Making This Your Best Year Ever with Contena Pro
One thing that actually surprised us last year was the number of members requesting that we add longer term memberships with a discount.
So we have also just added an annual membership option for our Pro members.
We are now offering up to 50% off our newly added annual plan. This is a great deal for members who plan on dramatically increasing their freelancing and writing in 2016.
One More Thing.
Finally – I just want to say thank you. The encouragement and feedback provided by our members has been invaluable. Your success and the kind words from our members continue to inspire us each and every day.
While for many, 2016 is the year of the monkey, for us it’s the year of the writer, editor, and content creator!
